Located in central Mexico and founded in 1541, Morelia was one of the most prominent cities during Mexico’s colonial era, due to the strong presence of its several Catholic archbishops. In 1991, Morelia was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site by United Nations for its well-preserved colonial buildings.

Today, the city is known for its cultural richness, with major international festivals including International Organ Festival of Morelia, International Film Festival of Morelia, and International Music Festival of Morelia.
